We’ve been in the lab and now proudly present our newest favourite snack: our puffed pineapple chunks! The bite sized puffs are made from dried pineapple with an intense sweet flavour and convince with their typical, lightly sour note. Since you can already find several tasty pineapple products in our shop, from dried pineapple chunks to pineapple powder and tasty freeze-dried pineapple – it was just a matter of time before we added a puffed version of the beloved summer fruit. But why puffed pineapple of all fruits? Because its packed with natural sweetness, puffed pineapple chunks are incredibly aromatic and fruity. When compared to regular dried pineapple, the intense fruity flavour becomes even more evident with the puffed version. That’s also why we only put 100 % fruit into the pack — no added sugar or any other additives. The sweetness comes entirely from the pineapple, which contains natural sugar. Puffed, not dried!
You ay be curious how dried fruit becomes so crunchy. Unlike conventional dried fruit, our fruit is heated in a vacuum. The innovative puffing technology using vacuum drying means that the fruits water content evaporates in a very short time (about 1-3 minutes) at a low temperature. During the process, the pineapple chunks loosen up, creating the so-called “puffing effect”. This gives the pineapple chunks their incomparable crunchy texture, with the intense sweet and refreshingly sour flavour.
